The Pines Reviews

Emma
We stayed here for a family get-together to mark an 80th birthdayand honestly, it was fantastic. The place is really cosy and inviting, way better than we expected. The only downside was the weather - it was a bit too rainy to fully enjoy the garden and outdoor seating. Still, we loved it!
Emma
We've just come back from what was meant to be a relaxing break at The Pines, but honestly, it left us pretty disappointed. We spent ages emailing and calling all week trying to sort out the issues, but nothing really got resolved, which was frustrating. The only good bits were the bedding and towels-they were lovely and softand we had hot water available whenever we needed it, so credit where it's due there. However, the cleanliness was pretty shocking. There were dust and cobwebs everywhereand when we arrived, we found a pizza in the microwave that hadn't been cleaned, along with old coffee pods still in the machine. Not exactly what you want after travelling! The hot tub was another big letdown. The booklet said it should be cleaned three times a week, but it clearly hadn't been touched during our stay. That's concerning, especially health-wise, as we wonder if it was properly cleaned between guests. The coffee machine was another headache. It broke almost straight away, tripping the fuseand we were told to stand on a plastic stool to switch the trip back on. Honestly, that's not a safe or sensible suggestion, especially with a group of different ages and abilities. We didn't even get coffee pods initially, as promised. When a replacement arrived, it was faulty too, leaking water all over. The dishwasher was also out of action from the startand it wasn't fixed during our stay. We only received two tea towels and a hand towel at the beginningand had to request extra washing materials mid-week. With eight of us, washing up became a huge chore-about three times a day per person, which really took the shine off the holiday. The fridge was another issue-kept freezing our food despite being set at a reasonable temperature. We lost quite a bit of food, including meats, cheesesand fresh produce, which we estimate cost us at least 200 pounds. A maintenance visit was made, but nothing was fixed, so that was pretty disappointing. The games room was nearly unusable too, as there was no heating, making it way too cold to enjoy at certain times of the day. To top it off, we didn't accept the box of chocolates the company sent us, as we found it quite offensive considering all the problems we faced and the lack of proper resolution. All in all, we've holidayed in self-catering places many times before, but sadly, this was one of the worst experiences we've had. Very disappointing indeed.

We loved the house! It's beautifully decorated and spacious enough for our group of four couples. The location was perfect for exploring the Gower. The kitchen was really well equipped, making self-catering easy. We did have some plumbing issues during our stay, but hopefully those have been sorted now. Overall, a really lovely place to stay!
Sam

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Pines during my Dad's 80th birthday. The house and gardens are stunning, with plenty of space to relax. It's so peaceful and just a quick drive to lovely spots. Truly a perfect place for a getaway. We'd definitely love to return-thanks for an amazing break!

We booked The Pines for a family birthdayand honestly, it felt just like home after a few days. Plenty of room, a hot tuband a pool room made it perfect. We spent months searching for the right placeand I'm glad we chose this one. Wish we'd stayed longer, it was fab! Definitely recommend.
Alex
We really enjoyed the stay! The house had everything we neededand the kitchen equipment was top-notch - even our chef son loved it. Beds and lounge seats were super comfyand the garden with the hot tub and snooker room was fantastic!
Emily
The house is really spacious and well-equipped, with a hot tub and snooker table that we enjoyed daily. The garden was just perfect for games. Absolutely loved our stay!
Emma Roberts
We really enjoyed our stay at The Pines. The place was super comfy and had plenty of space, perfect for our dog to roam around in the big garden. The hot tub was a real highlightand we had fun playing snooker, though the cues could be better. Cleanliness was okay, towels looked a bit tired. Overall, a great trip in Wales with lots of walking!
Emma
Nice place, but a few more basics like salt and oil would help.
James
We stayed at The Pines and honestly, it's a lovely place but there were a few letdowns. For the first day and a half, the lights in the game room and shower kept tripping, so no hot water, which was a pain. We also arrived to find no basic stuff like dishwasher tablets or a first aid kit, which you'd kinda expect. One of the kitchen drawers was brokenand the alarm went off unexpectedly. When we rang the management, the line was dead - really frustrating. The worst part was no hot water at all, meaning baths were impossible and dishes took ages to do, boiling water on the kettle. There were cobwebs in the corners, cheap toilet rolland not enough towels. Still, the place has potential but these issues really need sorting out!
Emma
We loved the spacious house, perfect for everyone in our group. It's so handy being near all the Gower beachesand getting around was really easy. Definitely recommend!
